Module objectives/intended learning outcomes

General Competencies:

     Students are expected to be able to use elementary statistical methods to carry out simple data analysis in related scientific fields.

 

Specific Competencies

Students are expected to be able to:

1. Make the presentation of data in tables and diagrams

2. Calculate the measures of central tendency.

3. Calculate the probability of an event using Bayes rule.

4. Calculate the probability density function of a random variable.

5. Calculate the mean and variance of linear combinations of random variables

6. Calculate the probability of a discrete and continuous random variable.

7. Calculates the probability related to the sample mean and variance of one population

Content

Descriptive statistics, measures of centrality and distribution of data, introduction to probability, distribution of random variables, expected value, discrete and continuous distribution, sampling distribution.

Study and examination requirements

Students are considered to pass if they at least have got final score 40 (D).

Final score is calculated as follow: 10%  softskill +30% assignment + 30% midterm + 30% final exam.
