General Competence (Knowledge):

  Capable of connecting the concepts of the group and ring by analysis approach.

Specific Competence: student are able to

1.     Describe the properties of a group

2.     Prove statement related to group

3.     Prove statement related to normal subgroup and factor group

4.     Prove statement related to group homomorphism

5.     Identify whether a set with two operations is a ring

6.     Prove statement related to special ring

Content

Group, subgroup, permutation group, cyclic group,  cosets and Lagrange’s theorem, normal subgroup, group homomorphism, factor group, Ring, subring, special ring, integral domain, ring homomorphism, factor ring and ideal.

Students are considered to pass if they at least have got a final score 40 (D).

Final score is calculated as follows: 10% softskill+25% assignment + 20% Quiz + 20% midterm + 25% final exam.
