This program invites guest lecturers from partner universities abroad to deliver guest lectures to UNAIR students via online platforms. The implementation of this program involves study programs that align with the educational background of the guest lecturers. This semester, UNAIR\u2019s Mathematics Study Program had the opportunity to host two guest lectures as part of the Decota program, in the fields of Algebra and Operations Research and Computations (ORC). The guest lecture in the field of Algebra was held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, via ZOOM.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Algebra guest lecture was organized as a webinar titled \u201cGraph Theory International Webinar | Algebra Lecture.\u201d The event featured two speakers from the field of Algebra: Dr. Savari Prabhu from Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, part of Anna University, India, and Dr. Liliek Susilowati, a lecturer from the Mathematics Study Program at UNAIR. The two-hour event was attended by over seventy participants from universities in Indonesia, Malaysia, and India. Some of the participating universities from Malaysia included Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, and Kolej Vokasional Gerik. Participating universities from India included Women\u2019s Christian College, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, and Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering. Participants from Indonesia were from Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Islam Madura, Universitas Dr. Soetomo, Universitas Jember, Universitas Kaltara, Universitas Andalas, Universitas Surabaya, Institut Teknologi Kalimantan, Universitas PGRI Argopuro Jember, Universitas Sanata Dharma Yogyakarta, and Universitas Lampung.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"532\" src=\"https:\/\/matematika.fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2024\/04\/parag-2-8-1024x532.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/matematika.fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2024\/04\/parag-2-8-1024x532.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/matematika.fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2024\/04\/parag-2-8-300x156.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/matematika.fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2024\/04\/parag-2-8-768x399.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/matematika.fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2024\/04\/parag-2-8.jpeg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The webinar began with the Indonesian national anthem, followed by a welcoming speech from the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, represented by Vice Dean III, Dr. Fatmawati. In her speech, she expressed hope that the Decota program would serve as a medium for sharing knowledge with competent international guest speakers. The main event consisted of presentations from both speakers, followed by a discussion session moderated by Ridho Alfarisi, M.Si., a PhD student in MIPA at UNAIR.<\/p>\n\n<p>Dr. Savari\u2019s presentation explained several applications of graph theory in various fields, including robot navigation programming. He illustrated how to determine a robot&#8217;s movement direction by creating target points connected by paths as direction indicators, utilizing graph theory involving nodes and vertices. Besides robot navigation, graph theory is used in chemistry, network discovery and verification, sonar and loran stations, pattern recognition and image processing, geometrical routing protocols, strategy in the game Mastermind, and facility safeguard analysis. Dr. Liliek&#8217;s presentation discussed the Concept Development of the Metric Dimension. She introduced several concepts related to the metric dimension, including local metric dimension, strong metric dimension, fractional metric dimension, local fractional metric dimension, adjacency metric dimension, complement metric dimension, multiset metric dimension, dominant metric dimension, and local dominant metric dimension. The participants were highly enthusiastic, as evidenced by the numerous questions related to the topics presented. The event officially ended with the MC&#8217;s closing remarks at around 11:10 AM WIB.
