One of the required courses for UNAIR Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) students is calculus. Nonetheless, the majority of incoming students detest this course. This is evident by the high percentage of returning students each year. In response, the Mathematics Study Program organized an Academic Lecture activity called Differential Calculus in association with Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE).

This semester’s AGE program, which features international speakers, is an academic lecture activity. According to the registered speakers, faculty members with relevant fields support AGE in its execution.

This time, Bench Go Fabros, M.Sc., Instructor in the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Technology, Tarlac Agricultural University, was one of the speakers in the Academic Lecture program featuring speakers from the Philippines, organized by the Mathematics Study Program on behalf of FST UNAIR.

Students are invited to this event, particularly those who are new to Calculus classes. Despite taking place on a holiday, specifically on Saturday, September 17, 2022, students enthusiastically embraced this activity. The attendance of about 160 people who participated in the event via Zoom media served as evidence of this.

The event began with an opening statement from Cicik Alfiniyah, M.Sc., Ph.D., the secretary of the mathematics department, before the content was presented. The content from a guest speaker who covered calculus derivative topics came next. The participants appeared to comprehend the offered material fairly well, despite the fact that it was delivered in English. They frequently reply and react to the speaker’s justification.
