The Mathematics and Logic Competition, commonly known as MLC, is an annual national-level mathematics competition organized by the Mathematics Student Association (Himatika) at Universitas Airlangga. This competition targets middle school/equivalent and high school/equivalent students, with the theme “Challenge Your Math Skills to Become a Golden Generation in Spectacular Hybrid Competition.”
The MLC competition for the current year comprises three rounds and is conducted in a hybrid format. The preliminary and semi-final rounds take place online, while the final round is conducted offline. The preliminary round occurred on October 23, 2022, through the website www.mlcunair.com, with the participation of 501 teams from 10 competition regions across Indonesia. Following the preliminary round, 25 teams from each level were qualified for the semi-finals.
The semi-final round, held on November 13, 2022, involved fifty teams that successfully passed the preliminary round. These teams were further divided into five small groups for each level, participating in various activities within breakout rooms. The semi-final round comprised four posts, namely Post 1 (Among Us), Post 2 (Math Zombie), Post 3 (Spin Wheel), and Post 4 (Long Description Questions). Teams were tasked with developing clever and strategic approaches to maximize their points across these diverse posts.
After the semi-final round, 20 teams from each level were eliminated, leaving only five teams from each level to proceed to the final round. The ten teams that qualified competed in the final round on November 20, 2022. In the final round, participants were not only expected to demonstrate mastery of the material but also proficiency in seizing opportunities, assessing risks, and exhibiting responsive thinking. The final round encompassed various stages, starting with the question paper and presentation session, followed by the capital collection session, and concluding with the investment session. Through this extensive journey, a new MLC 2022 champion emerged.
