Lecturers are bound by the tridharma principles of higher education, which encompass education, research, and Community Service (PkM). Consequently, in addition to fulfilling their roles as educators, lecturers are obligated to advance their knowledge through research endeavours and contribute to society through Community Service activities.
On Friday, March 10, 2023, the Mathematics Study Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), implemented one of the tridharma components, specifically Community Service (PkM). This collaborative initiative took place in partnership with SMAN 1 Puri Mojokerto and centered around the theme “Strategy for solving AKM questions for students of SMAN 1 Puri Mojokerto.” During this activity, lecturers from the Mathematics Study Program delved into and provided strategies for solving AKM (Minimum Competency Assessment) numeracy questions.
Approximately 250 students participated in the activity, organized into 10 parallel classes. Each class was led by a lecturer equipped with a package of AKM questions designed for discussion with students. The PkM team meticulously prepared these question packages, aligning them with topics or materials taught in high school while adhering to AKM standards. The objective is to enhance students’ understanding of the characteristics of AKM questions, enabling them to navigate and solve them effectively.
Herni Sudar Jenisnti, S.Pd., M.Pd., the Principal of SMAN 1 Puri Mojokerto, conveyed gratitude for the PkM activities conducted by the FST UNAIR Mathematics Study Program lecturers. She expressed hope that such collaborative endeavours could continue on future occasions, stating, “We anticipate ongoing symbiotic cooperation activities between the UNAIR Mathematics Study Program and SMAN 1 Puri Mojokerto,” concluding his remarks at the conclusion of the day’s proceedings.
