FST Got Talent is an annual talent selection event organized by the BEM FST, focusing on the arts and involving active students from FST, aiming for selection in Sciensomnia. Participants can enter various art categories, including videography, music (solo/group/band, etc.), dance (traditional, modern), stand-up comedy, and more. This year, a delegation from the Mathematics program achieved significant success.
Rismatus Sabiliyah Silatur Rohmih, a 2021 batch student, won second place in the FST Got Talent held on October 23, 2021, via Zoom meeting. The event was organized by the Department of Arts and Sports, Kabinet Cita, in collaboration with BEM FST Universitas Airlangga. Besides Rismatus, around ten participants competed in various artistic fields, either individually or in groups.
Before the competition began, several stages had to be completed. Registration ran from September 24 to October 8, 2021, followed by the creation of the planned works and their submission between October 9 and 20, 2021. After submission, the works were judged on October 23, 2021, with the announcement of winners two days later, on October 25, 2021.
In addition to the event details, Rismatus found several interesting aspects of participating in FST Got Talent, such as expanding connections with students from other programs within FST, gaining more confidence to perform publicly, and having the opportunity to showcase her work. Rismatus was also pleased to meet distinguished judges who provided valuable feedback on the participants’ impressive works. Furthermore, she appreciated encountering new ideas and perspectives she had not heard before.
Looking ahead, Rismatus hopes that FST Got Talent can be held offline to enhance the talent show atmosphere. She also wishes for more FST members to have the courage to showcase their remarkable works. Rismatus expressed her gratitude to the entire committee, as she initially doubted her work, but one committee member encouraged and supported her, boosting her confidence and bravery.
Rismatus’s achievement also supports one of the SDGs’ points, which is to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
