Jarro’un Nurul Faizzah, a Mathematics student from the Class of 2022, colloquially known as Faiz, has demonstrated remarkable achievements in two concurrent mathematics competitions. Faiz secured a bronze medal in the Economy and Calculus Olympiad for Students (ECOS) competition in Calculus, and a silver medal in the National Science Competition (NSC) in Mathematics, both organized by the Indonesian Madrasah Science Activists Association (PPSM) and the National Science Championship Center (Puskanas) in March 2023.
In an interview, Faiz expressed his happiness and pride in the accomplishments attained during the competitions. She highlighted the opportunity to engage with university-level Olympiad questions, expanding his knowledge of mathematics and calculus. Additionally, Faiz emphasized the value of forming new connections with individuals who share his passion for mathematics.
When queried about the challenges encountered during her preparation for the competition, Faiz acknowledged the difficulty of studying mathematics and calculus Olympiad questions. However, she expressed contentment in persistently seeking solutions to complex problems. With her victory, Faiz aspires to participate in additional Olympic competitions and secure further successes.
Faiz underscored that while victory is significant, his primary objective is continuous learning and enhancement of her mathematical abilities. “I am pleased to have gained substantial insights from this competition, as it will provide valuable support in my academic pursuits and future participations in other competitions,” she remarked.
The achievements of Faiz in the field of mathematics warrant commendation and stand as an inspiration for fellow mathematics students with interests and talents in the discipline. It is hoped that Faiz’s accomplishments will motivate other mathematics students to actively engage in various academic activities, such as competitions, and contribute to the generation of pride-worthy achievements for both themselves and their institution.
