One of the essential components of the Tridharma of Higher Education, representing the obligations of lecturers, is research. This endeavor ensures that lecturers actively contribute to knowledge development and problem-solving within their respective fields. To cultivate a conducive scientific environment within the academic sphere, initiatives are crucial to establish scientific forums serving as platforms for research dissemination and fostering scientific enthusiasm among lecturers.
In line with this objective, the Mathematics Department at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), organized a “Research Sharing” activity exclusively attended by lecturers from the Mathematics Department. This event, held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, featured Dr. Siti Humaira, a doctoral lecturer in Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA) at FST UNAIR, who specializes in Algebra. During the session, Dr. Siti Humaira presented the outcomes of her dissertation titled “Generalization of Jacobson Graphs over Rings.”
“The results of this research will significantly contribute to simplifying solutions for various mathematical problems,” affirmed Dr. Siti Humaira. Responding to inquiries about the practical applications of the research, she elaborated, “Given the pure mathematical nature of this research, the concepts derived may not be directly applicable to industrial problems. However, they will facilitate the resolution of several mathematical challenges associated with real-world problems.”
Through this initiative, there is an optimistic outlook that it will kindle the enthusiasm of Mathematics Department lecturers to persist in generating exemplary research aligned with their specific areas of interest. Dr. Herry Suprajitno, Head of the Mathematics Department, expressed his hope during the opening speech, stating, “May this event further invigorate the scientific climate within the Mathematics Department.”
