The year 2021 marks the second year of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia, necessitating continued adherence to health protocols. During this year, the UNAIR Mathematics Alumni Gathering was held online via Zoom. This event brought together the 2021 HIMATIKA committee, current students, and alumni, aiming to form an alumni association. The objectives of the gathering included establishing the UNAIR Mathematics Alumni Association, fostering connections among alumni, lecturers, and the HIMATIKA committee, and electing the chairperson of the association.

The Alumni Gathering, held on Saturday, June 12, 2021, saw the attendance of numerous alumni representatives from the 2002 to 2017 cohorts, active students representing the 2018 cohort, and HIMATIKA committee members from the 2019 and 2020 cohorts. The event was also attended by Mr. Muhammadun, representing the faculty, and Mrs. Asri, who represented both the faculty and the 2002 alumni cohort. According to Mr. Ahmad Madani, an alumnus from the 2002 cohort, there is a need for further forums to facilitate more in-depth discussions among cohort representatives to ensure the effective formation and coordination of the UNAIR Mathematics Alumni Association. Similarly, Mr. Ahmad Nugroho, an alumnus from the 2013 cohort, emphasized the necessity of coordinated efforts among cohort representatives to ensure the smooth progression of the association’s formation process.

During the gathering, Mr. Devi Yudha, an alumnus from the 2004 cohort, was elected as the coordinator for the formation of the UNAIR Mathematics Alumni Association. This event served as a platform to socialize the upcoming establishment of the association and marked the initial step towards its future formation.
