Bachelor Degree Programme of Mathematics was founded in 1982 along with three others Bachelor Degree Programme such as, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology with the name of the math department under the auspices of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Airlangga University. Before that, the lecturers of this four majors incorporated in Basic Natural Science (BNS) which is part of Medical Faculty of Airlangga University. Establishment Bachelor Degree Programme of Mathematics is based on Director General Dikti Decree, No 117/DIKTI/Kep/1984. In 2008, Bachelor Degree Programme of Mathematic changed it name into Mathematics Department.
At this time, Mathematics Department cope three Bachelor Degree Programmes such as Mathematics, Information System, and Statistics. In 2016, Bachelor Degree Programme of Mathematics got an A accreditation based on BAN President Decree No: 1059/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/VI/2016. At this time there are four research groups under coordination of Bachelor Degree Programme of Mathematics such as Analysis, Algebra, Operation Research and Computation (ORC), and System Modelling. Expertise Groups to guide college student in order to take subject as a requirement to take Final Project. In this regard the las two expertise group, such as ORC and System Modelling newly enacted for the class of 2011, while for the previous class, both of this expertise group still join in one group, Expertise Group of Applied Mathematics.
