A notable achievement was attained by a mathematics student from the Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Class of 2021, Mr. Ikhsan, who secured the 3rd position in the “Humanity of SDGs” Essay Competition organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Engineering at Muria Kudus University. The competition, conducted on December 26, 2022, via a Zoom meeting platform, witnessed the participation of approximately 200 contestants from various universities and colleges across Indonesia.
Mr. Ikhsan, in reflecting on his success, articulated, “The essay competition serves as an innovative approach to contribute towards the realization of one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in my undertakings. I directed my focus towards digitalization, specifically through the utilization of a digital application that my friend and I developed, named ‘Zerap: Zero Waste Application.’”
The structure of the essay competition closely resembled standard essay processes, commencing with registration, the collection of essays, and preliminary essay selection. The top 10 essays from 10 distinct groups progressed to the final stage. In this conclusive phase, participants presented their creations, and the evaluation criteria were centred on the practical implementation and utility of the innovations introduced. The competition fostered engagement and collaboration among individuals from diverse academic backgrounds, contributing to the broader discourse on Sustainable Development Goals.
